Dropdown
Version 1.1 adds the ability to download directly to your Dropbox, on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
What is it?
Dropdown is a simple and fast way to remotely download files to your Dropbox from your iPhone.
What do I need?
- A free Dropbox account.
- The $0.99 Dropdown iPhone app.
How does it work?
Using your Dropbox account, files are downloaded using your Mac's fast internet connection. They are then available from anywhere within your Dropbox folder, the iPhone's Dropbox app, and on your home computer.
- Copy a file's URL to the clipboard while browsing on your iPhone.
- Open Dropdown. The URL will automatically be pasted into the download field.
- Press Download File Now.
- The file will download on your iPhone and then be added to your Dropbox account. This will use your device's data connection. You can then access the file from your Dropbox account on your Mac or iOS device.
Try the Mac companion app
The free Dropdown Mac Helper app (requires Intel Mac on OS X 10.5+) allows you to use the Send to Mac feature. This function sends the URL of the file from your iOS device to your Mac computer running the companion app. Your Mac will then download the file and add it to your Dropbox, saving you time and bandwith.
